It reads: Pine Level, established and designated the county seat of Manatee County April 29, 1866 became, on May 19, 1887, the First County Seat of DeSoto County when DeSoto Conty was created from Manatee. It remained the county seat 18 months. (1st Court House site approx. 200 Ft. North).
