Manatee County Court House. University of South Florida Tampa Library still image eng The 1889-era wooden Manatee County Court House, built in Bradenton after DeSoto County was created from the eastern part of Manatee County and the old county seat of government at Pine Level was abandoned. A gazebo, or bandstand, is seen on Courthouse Square among the trees at right, as well as a wishing well near the corner. The streets are still shell paved, but they are paved, and curbs and sidewalks have been added. It looks like a sewer opening at the corner curbing, near a fire hydrant. Most of the sewer and water lines were laid during 1910 - 1911. This image was copied with permission from the postcard collection of Melanie Barr.
