This page reads: "have written about everything I know - but I could still put in another half-sheet of paper - and it will never do to send off a letter lighter than it need by! I think I had told you about the two puppies Pasha and Luna - well they were not very bright little dogs - and were not strong and healthy - so the young man of the house carried them away and shot them - while he was home for Easter holidays. The young ladies were very angry and made a great fuss - they didn't know it until it was done. And they wouldn't speak to their brother - but I think it was better - for the poor little dogs were no good - and made a great deal of nuisance. The grounds here are growing beautiful - the grass is so green - and everywhere there are lots of primroses - and in one place a good many violets - though they haven't been blossoming very much during this cool spell. They are not like the violets in Florida - they are smaller - darker in color - and have such a sweet smell - and they grow low down to the ground. Stems are scarcely ever more than an inch and a half long - and more of them are not over an inch - just long enough so I can tie them together for Uncle Toni's button hole.
