He was from Medina, Ohio. He was the founder of the A.I. Root Company of Medina, Ohio, which manufactured beekeeper's equipment and supplies. This company was by 1977 the largest of its kind in the United States and was operated by A.I. Root's grandson Alan and great grandsons John and Brad Root. He built his winter residence here in the the early 1900s and wintered here until his death in Medina on april 19th, 1923.
