Christian Science made its appearance in Bradentown around 1902. In January 1913 an official Society formed. It took from 1930 until 1932 to acquire land and build a church building. On July 2, 1979, the building seen here was acquired for a Reading Room and has continued into the early 21st Century. In the background, to the left, are the towers of the old 1913 brick sanctuary of the First Baptist Church at 1306 Manatee Avenue West. The congregation built a new sanctuary, then in the early 2000s was able to renovate the old landmark, preserving the ornate building and its stained glass.
